Blackburn plotting move for 20-year-old Premier League striker as Mowbray eyes summer reinforcements

League One promotion contenders Blackburn Rovers are eyeing up a move for Everton striker Bassala Sambou, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The 20-year-old previously worked under Tony Mowbray at Coventry City, and has remained on the former Sky Blues manager’s radar ever since, despite not making an appearance at Goodison Park as yet.

However, Sambou is highly regarded in some quarters, and with Blackburn looking to secure a return to the Championship this year, Mowbray will be hopeful of bringing in the striker and adding some more goals to his sqaud as he plots for life in the second tier.

Sambou had spent much of his youth career with Coventry before signing a three-year deal with Everton back in 2016 as the Toffees attempted to fill out their under-23 squads with some of the best young talent from the lower leagues.

Sambou could well relish the chance of some regular first team football with Blackburn if a move is to materialise, and Everton will no doubt be keen to get some minutes and much needed first team football into the legs of the youngster to aid his career development.

Blackburn fans, what do you make of this? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
