The last five years have been an era to forget for Blackburn fans, but finally the owners are letting the football do the talking.

Not too many years ago Blackburn Rovers were an established Premier League club. As a long-standing member of the top flight, Rovers could visit places like Old Trafford with a realistic chance of doing well - in fact, they did last time, with a 3-2 victory thanks to Yakubu's heroics.

However, since then, it has been doom and gloom. The Venky ownership has overseen Blackburn's descent from an established club at the top table, to one struggling to stay afloat in the second division that spent last season in the third tier.

You don't have to be the biggest football fan to know that owners often make promises they can't keep. Venky's were no exception to this, as they rolled into town like movie stars from a blockbuster. Wrong decision after wrong decision led to the descent of Blackburn both on and off the pitch, with crowds dropping by 70% over the last six or seven years.

The headlines for the best part of a decade about Blackburn have been negative - not anymore. Under the tutelage of Tony Mowbray, Blackburn are starting to do their talking on the pitch. A happy sight for any Blackburn supporter, I imagine.

Currently sitting in twelfth in the Championship, Mowbray's side look as good as they have since their plummet from the top flight, with Bradley Dack earning national praise, as well as a healthy mix of youth and experience helping them to victories.

Most recently came the victory at the bet365 stadium, where Mowbray's side beat Stoke by three goals to two.

It may not be a promotion push or anything major, but Blackburn are doing their talking on the pitch for the first time in a while, reducing headlines from off it.
