Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has headed to India for talks over the club's summer transfer budget, according to a reliable football journalist.
Alan Nixon is reporting on Twitter that Mowbray is jetting off to India to meet with the Venkys to discuss the budget for this summer's upcoming transfer window.
However, sources close to the Venkys claim that Mowbray might not be given much money to work with this summer.
Blackburn will be competing in the Championship again next season after winning promotion from League One at the first time of asking.
Rovers are currently second in the table in the third tier, trailing leaders Wigan by two points with a game to go but the important thing is that they have picked up enough points to ensure they have won promotion to the Championship automatically rather than challenging in the play-offs.
But there might not be much money in Mowbray's summer budget as the Venkys keep a close eye on the purse strings.
Mowbray had to plead with the controversial owners for them to bankroll a move for Bradley Dack last summer and he has done some impressive business so far as Blackburn Rovers manager.
The Verdict
Whether Mowbray can keep Blackburn in the Premier League with a shoestring budget remains to be seen. If the Venkys had more foresight, they might think that an outlay this summer could be an investment, keeping Rovers in the second tier next season and helping them push on towards promotion. But Mowbray will fancy his chances with plenty of decent free agents floating around this summer and by retaining his core squad from last year.
