Retired goalkeeper Shay Given is really impressed with the job that Tony Mowbray has done at Rovers.

Given started his senior career at Blackburn because he attracted the attention of Kenny Daglish with his performances for Celtic's youth team. However, he only made three appearances for them due to spending most of his time on loan, and Newcastle signed him three years later in 1997.

Blackburn were relegated down to League One on the final day last campaign in what was one of the worst days and seasons for fans in recent memory.

However, Mowbray has brought them back up at the first time of asking with a dominant season, although they were only able to finish second behind Wigan who have become experts at achieving promotion from League One in recent years.

Shay Given, speaking exclusively to 888sport, had this to say about Mowbray and Blackburn:

"You have to give Tony Mowbray a lot of credit at Blackburn. He’s been skipping along unnoticed all season. He always keeps a level head and doesn’t get carried away and he’s done a great job. It’s so good to see them back in the Championship."
