Sky Bet Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for former Charlton Athletic manager Jose Riga to take over the managerial reigns at Ewood Park, according to the Sun.
Following the departure of Paul Lambert, the Venky family has been weighing up the options. As the season campaign has finished, there is less pressure to make the appointment, and Blackburn Rovers are biding their time.
With the Venky’s compiling an extensive shortlist of managers who could potentially take over, one name that is high up on the list is former Charlton Athletic boss Riga.
The Belgian manager is available after leaving Charlton, and his appointment would circumnavigate any issues about paying club’s compensation.
The appointment itself would provide some stability, but it would be an uninspiring choice to say the least.
Following the arrival of Lambert, there was some optimism and talk about mounting a promotion challenge, however, this ambition has dissipated.
This managerial appointment and the recruitment that Blackburn carries out over the summer could be crucial to how Blackburn will fare next season.
