The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Rovers boss Gary Bowyer believes that winger Ben Marshall is the prime example of the flexibility which his squad now boasts.

Bowyer states that Marshall is not the only player at Rovers who can play in a multitude of different positions, giving him options to adapt his squad to cope with the rigors of a gruelling Championship campaign.

The Ewood Park team were hit by a number of injury problems last year which severely hampered their progress in the league.

Speaking of the adaptability Bowyer said “What we have got now is a group of lads who can play in various positions – and that is a very appealing trait…Ben Marshall, for example, played right back at Telford and in training played in the No 10 position – and there aren’t many players who can do that.“

He went on to praise the flexibility of other players “But he’s not the only one. Alex Baptiste can do it, Matt Kilgallon can do it, Jason Lowe can do it, Luke Varney can do it, Chris Taylor can do, and Tom Cairney can do it. Then we’ve got players who can play on both flanks and it shows the depth in terms of flexibility that we’ve now got – and I think that is going to be vital.”

Blackburn has reportedly been considering transfer bids for transfer-listed strikers Leon Best and Jordan Slew.

Best has been heavily linked with a move back to Sheffield Wednesday, with whom he ended last season on loan.

Port Vale are said to be interested in Slew and want to offer a loan. That said, Vale have yet to agree a deal with the player, with negotiations on-going, and Slew is attracting fresh interest from Scotland after an successful loan spell with Ross County.
