Four clubs are hoping to sign soon-to-be free agent Erhun Oztumer this summer, according to HITC Sport.

Championship trio Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End are joined by League One side Bradford City in a four-way scrap for Oztumer's signature.

The diminutive 5ft 3in midfielder is out of contract at Walsall this summer and he has stated his desire to move away from the West Midlands club to further his career elsewhere.

With 17 goals and eight assists in 50 matches this season, Oztumer is not short of potential suitors.

Bolton are hoping to add him to their midfield ranks after they stayed in the Championship with a dramatic final day win over Nottingham Forest, while newly-promoted Blackburn have held a long-term interest in the central midfielder.

Preston are aiming for reinforcements to push them towards the play-off spots and Bradford have chucked their name in the hat as they plan to make an audacious swoop and beat three Championship sides to his signature.

The 26-year-old has been with Walsall since joining from Peterborough United in 2016 and he has 95 games for the Saddlers in this time.

But his time with Walsall appears to be over and this quartet of sides are hoping they can win the race to his signature.

The Verdict

Having plied his early career trade in Turkey with Sivasspor and Anadolu Uskudar, the Greenwich-born midfield man has now firmly established himself as a top player at League One level and he needs to move on for the sake of his career.

He may be small in stature but he is such a danger going forward, providing creativity, chances for team-mates, goals himself and set-piece specialities.

Oztumer would be a perfect complement to Bradley Dack at Blackburn; a much-needed creative spark in Bolton's midfield; a player who can push Preston further up the league; or surely someone who can guide Bradford to promotion should he opt to stay in League One.
