Bizarre situation emerges involving Tottenham and Burnley

Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur have engaged in a bizarre battle over coach Simon Davies.

According to a report by Alan Nixon, both clubs have offered Davies a role within the club.

It was originally expected that the coach would join up with Vincent Kompany having worked with the Belgian at his previous club Anderlecht before his Burnley appointment.

But he has also received an offer from Spurs to join Antonio Conte’s backroom team.

Tottenham believed that their agreement with Davies meant he was set to begin work with the club on Wednesday.

But the former Anderlecht man failed to show up to work to start his new role.

Burnley are also reportedly unsure of the whereabouts of Davies at this moment, with both clubs currently unsure of where his future lies.

A decision will need to be made by Davies, with either club looking to begin their pre-season training over the next few weeks.

Quiz: Can you name which club these 27 ex-Burnley players are playing for now?

Who does former Burnley man Alex MacDonald play for now?

Preparations will be starting on how to map out the player’s return to the first team squad, which Davies will likely have to play a role in figuring out with his new club.

Burnley are now preparing for life back in the Championship following their relegation from the top flight on the final day of the previous season.

The Verdict

This is a bizarre situation that has seemingly left both clubs wondering what is actually going on.

Wherever Davies will choose to work, this is not the best start to life on his move to English football.

There are still a few weeks before the players make their return so this has come at an awkward but harmless time of year.

But it is still damaging to his reputation at either club as employers will rarely like to feel out of the loop on prospective employee’s new start to work.
