Many Derby County fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that the club reportedly registered late interest in signing Jack Clarke from Tottenham Hotspur, as per The Athletic journalist Ryan Conway.
The winger, who returned to Spurs earlier this month following a brief loan stint at Leeds United, is now thought to be close to agreeing a temporary move to Queens Park Rangers.
Handed his professional debut by Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa in 2018, Clarke produced a number of stand-out performances for the club in the Championship before joining Tottenham last summer for an initial fee of £10m.
However, after re-joining Leeds on loan, the 19-year-old ultimately failed to make any inroads on the club’s starting eleven due to the presence of Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez.
Derby, who are currently 17th in the Championship standings, have yet to add to their squad in the January transfer window.
Given that the Rams have lacked consistency going forward this season, it would be somewhat of a shock if they fail to bolster their attacking options in the coming weeks.

Here are some of the best responses from the club’s supporters…
Why did Derby move late? Very bizarre planning if he wasn't on their radar to sign. Sounds like we're panicking again on targets. We had 4 months to get our targets in place and deals done early. Feels like deja vu is around the corner with our recruitment team

It’s an absolute joke. Both Maddison and Clarke going to different clubs with Derby having a realistic chance to sign both or one of. With both adding and improving the squad we have 🤦♂️

I'd rather do nothing than another panic signing

Always the same with Derby. Always late to the party. Then will panic sign someone on the last day that is not good enough.

I’m not convinced we absolutely need to bring anyone in. Think we have more than enough to see us safe this season. Give PC the whole summer then to ship out those out of contract etc & buy in permanent signings. There’s enough young talent here to see us through til then.

Part of me feels we haven’t got a budget it sounded like Cocu had his targets in December but now we are struggling to get anything going

Late interest just like all the other players should have been straight on the phone if we really wanted him https://t.co/fM8RXrAtVR
