West Ham United are hoping to sign talented young Stoke City striker Jordan Greenidge who is out of contract in the summer.

Despite offering the 18-year old a new deal, the Potters are resigned to losing the forward and the London club have opened talks about signing him according to Football Insider. They see the striker as a very good prospect for the future.

However, they will still face a lot of competition for the teenager with the likes of Fulham, Watford and Birmingham all expressing an interest in the player.

Greenidge joined Stoke in 2016 from Reading and has gone on to have two fine seasons at U18 level and has scored 25 in 43 in the U23 setup.

Yet, he still couldn't make an impression on the first-team this season despite there major struggles in front of goal.

Although after relegation was confirmed last week, Stoke may have seen a clearer pathway to the first-team for younger players such as Greenidge in the future.

The Verdict

This is very bad news for Stoke City. The club have spoken in recent weeks of losing their identity and connection with the fans.

Well, one easy way to get a bit of that back is to play the kids but of course, they have to be good enough. But, Greenidge looks as though he is a player capable of making the step up sooner rather than later.

It will be a blow for the Potters if he does go but a good signing for the Hammers.
