Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp is leading a revolution at St Andrews, as he aims to guide his side to an unlikely crack at the top six this season.

A number of faces have come and gone since the transfer window opened earlier in the summer, with Redknapp keen to completely overhaul the squad he inherited from Gianfranco Zola towards the back of end of last season.

The former Tottenham boss has worked hard to secure his top targets this summer, but at times has admitted that progress has been slow.

Deals are being lined up for completion before the window closes, and Redknapp will be keen to add several more faces before the expiration of the window in the coming days.

Birmingham have struggled for goals in their opening four encounters, finding the back of the net on just three occasions this year.

Redknapp addressed this issue with the acquisition of young Southampton striker, Sam Gallagher, earlier in the week, but further goalscoring threats will be on the agenda for the 70-year-old manager.

Goals from midfield prove vital in this division when targeting a top six berth, and adding to this output will boost the Blues’ chances of a top six finish.

With that in mind, Redknapp should launch a late bid for Burton Albion midfielder, Jackson Irvine.

The Australian international was sensational in the Brewers’ first ever season at this level, scoring ten goals as Nigel Clough’s men scraped survival in the closing weeks.

The 24-year-old has the potential to surpass that total this season, and in a better side, will undoubtedly achieve this feat.

Redknapp has funds to spend this summer, and launching a bid for a proven Championship goalscorer would be excellent business.

Clough will be reluctant to let his star man go, but if Redknapp wants promotion, he must target players of Irvine’s goal-scoring prowess.

Should Redknapp target a move for Irvine before the window closes?
