It's been a frustrating few weeks at St. Andrews since the arrival of Gianfranco Zola, who has a huge task on his hands to win over the fans, who remain disappointed with the sacking of Gary Rowett.

The Italian is yet to claim his first three points for the Blues and the January transfer window could play a huge part in his side's performances until the end of the season.

For many years the Premier League has been regularly taken advantage of by Championship clubs, who have dipped into the top tier for that added bit of quality.

Players such as Patrick Bamford have shone at this level on loan from the top flight, excelling at both Derby County and Middlesbrough.

An option for Gianfranco Zola to consider could be to take a similar high performing youngster off of one of England's top performing clubs.

In this article, FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe will take a look at a Chelsea and a Liverpool player who Birmingham should look at signing this week....

Harry Wilson (Liverpool)

A lot of teenagers have been progressing rapidly at Anfield this season and Harry Wilson is a very promising player.

While not quite ready for the Premier League unlike Ben Woodburn, he has been performing unbelievably well for the club's U23 side.

Occupying a position on the right-wing, Wilson is never far away from anything good in the side as he has been involved in 10 goals this season, scoring 7 of them.

Championship experience could be just what Wilson needs to progress to the next level and Birmingham could certainly benefit from a player of his promise.

Dominic Solanke (Chelsea)

Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke is said to be leaving the club in the summer when his contract expires, so an opportunity for a cheap fee is very possible.

However, the wage demands of the striker could prove too much for a Championship side to fund.

If this was to be the case then a loan deal until the end of the season could be a possibility for the Blues before he finds a new destination at the end of the season.

Solanke has scored goals for fun previously in his career and whilst on loan at Vitesse last season he managed to net 7 goals.

Goals have been somewhat hard to come by in recent weeks with Zola's side drawing a blank in four of their last eight matches. So a bit of extra weight up front certainly wouldn't go amiss.
