Luton Town face a battle to keep prize asset Isaac Vassell this summer as two Championship clubs step up their efforts to sign him, a reliable journalist is reporting.
According to football journalist Alan Nixon, Isaac Vassell is a transfer target for Birmingham City and Bristol City before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Birmingham and Bristol City are both preparing new offers of around £1m for the Luton Town attacker, who can play in a variety of positions up front.
Luton snapped up Isaac Vassell from non-league side Truro City last summer and he thoroughly impressed in his first season back in the Football League.
The 23-year-old netted 14 goals in 53 appearances for the Hatters last season and his form really picked up as the season drew on.
Vassell picked up where he left off at the start of this season, netting twice in Luton Town’s remarkable 8-2 win over Yeovil Town on the League Two opening day.
Birmingham City and Bristol City are both now hoping to poach him to bolster their attacking options.
Harry Redknapp is keen to add to the Blues’ squad but is finding value for money hard to come by.
Meanwhile, Bristol City are looking to add a bit of squad depth before the window closes and have identified Isaac Vassell as a top target.
Luton Town reportedly want more than £1m more the former Plymouth Argyle man.
Isaac Vassell is an exciting prospect because of his youth, natural skill and goal scoring ability.
Just over a year ago, he was still a non-league player but he has shown that he has what it takes to thrive at a much higher level.
Whether or not he can make the step up to play Championship football remains to be seen but in an inflated market, it might be worth taking a punt on the talented 23-year-old.
