Garry Monk has no intention of leaving Birmingham after reports emerged suggesting that he could leave the club after falling out with chief executive Xuandong Ren.

That's according to TalkSPORT's Midlands reporter Tom Ross, who sent a tweet out insisting that Monk wants to remain at Blues.

"Despite nothing coming from club or Garry Monk It is my understanding that Garry Monk has no intention of leaving/quitting and is busy planning for next season as normal."

Although, Ross did also add that the hierarchy could still sack Monk but that does seem unlikely given his reputation.

The former Leeds boss has done a superb job since he came to St. Andrew's, initially saving the club from relegation before they had an outside chance of reaching the play-offs until they were hit with a points deduction last season.

Monk has managed to do that on a very limited budget and he has united the fans after what was a turbulent few years for the club. So, if he was to depart it would be a huge setback for Blues and it's something that would anger the support.

There had been claims that the boss was not happy with the recent deal that saw Blues sell club-record signing Jota to Aston Villa with Gary Gardner going to St. Andrew's.

The Verdict

This will be a big relief for Blues fans if it proves to be true as the reports from this morning will have been a major concern to the fans.

Monk has done an outstanding job in really tough circumstances over the past 18 months and he has brought the club together.

So, whatever issues Ren has with the manager need to be sorted as Monk is the right man to lead Birmingham moving forward.
