Birmingham defender Kristian Pedersen says he "doesn't care" about Leeds' position in the Championship table, with the sides set to meet at St Andrew's on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are currently second in the Championship table, two points clear of the play-off places, while Birmingham lie eighteenth in the table following their nine point deduction that left them just five ahead of the relegation zone with seven games of the season remaining.

Earlier in the season, a Che Adams double saw the Blues beat Leeds to claim their first win of the Championship season at the ninth attempt, and Pedersen is confident that Birmingham can do the same again on Saturday.

Speaking to The Birmingham Mail, Pedersen said: “We won against Leeds last time, yes they are a leading team in the league, but my personal mentality is I don’t care. They are not unbeatable and they have lost games also. I think we will do our best to make it difficult for Leeds.”

Garry Monk's side are on a similar run to the one that proceeded their last victory over Leeds, having lost their last five games, and when asked if there was any significance in that Pedersen joked: “It means we’re going to win again and start having a good run again."

The Verdict

Given what is at stake for Leeds, the challenge for Birmingham may be even tougher this time than it was last time around. Leeds only regained control of their own destiny in the race for the Premier League last weekend, and they will be determined not to let it go so quickly.

They will also know even better what to expect from Birmingham now, and with the Blues current situation, Garry Monk will hope that any nerves in the St Andrew's crowd do not filter through to those on the pitch.
