Coventry City will be an EFL side next season but, of course, they need somewhere to play their football.

They move back out of the Ricoh Arena after an agreement could not be reached and it is up to them and another local club to strike a ground-share deal.

One of the clubs they could possibly do it with, then, is Birmingham City with the Birmingham Mail reporting as such and Garry Monk affirming the assertion in his latest press conference.

He revealed:

“Yes we are rivals, we want to beat each other and compete against each other but when it comes to football this area has a lot of history and looking after each other is a big part of that as well.

“I don’t know where those discussions are at, I don’t know what’s been talked about, if there are discussions of course I will delve a little bit deeper into that but I think the job of this area is to help, not just to watch a club like that struggle or possibly go out of existence."

The Verdict

It's a class bit of comment from Monk, too, and reminds us what this game is about and, sadly, where a lot of it seems to be going.

Rivals are rivals but in the face of poor mismanagement to the point where communities and jobs are being put a risk, that needs to go to one side.

Whoever shares with Coventry, then, will be doing the right thing - even though it should never really have come about in the first place.

Let's just hope, then, that after the next season solved, the Sky Blues can get back to their actual home and fill it with new owners at the helm.
