Birmingham City are edging closer to the signing of Inter Milan's George Puscas, Italian outlet FC Inter News report.

The striker has been a Blues target for much of the summer and it looks like the deal could finally be progressing as the club has made a bid of €7m for his services.

It is believed that Inter are looking for around €8-10m in order to allow him to leave, and that could mean he is out of Birmingham's price range, so they may have to spend what little time is remaining in the window to negotiate the asking price down.

The 23-year-old has spent the last 18 months on loan in Serie B, first at Novara Calcio where in scored nine in 19 games, before spending last season with Palermo where he also struck nine times, but from 33 league matches.

Puscas made a name for himself this summer whilst appearing for Romania in the U21s European Championships. His four goals helped to guide his nation into the semi-final, where they were defeated by Germany despite his brace.

The Verdict

Although it is a lot of money for a club like Birmingham to spend on one player, it shows their intention to replace Che Adams with a player of similar ability and potential.

He is not quite the finished product as Adams, and he will not be as suited to English football, but he is an exciting talent and certainly the type of player to fill Blues fans with optimism.

Puscas is a natural finisher and playing alongside Lukas Jutkiewicz will help him a great deal, as he should create many opportunities for him as he did for Adams, and therefore the Romanian should get his fair share of goes if he does make the move from Italy.
