Birmingham City could be set to make a move for Barnsley defender Marc Roberts, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.

The 26-year-old central defender has become the heart of the Barnsley back line over the last two seasons, and has attracted interest from Premier League clubs. Roberts formed a formidable partnership with Alfie Mawson before he was poached by Swansea City last year.

Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp is hoping to add some quality to the squad over the summer as he looks to steer the club well clear of another relegation battle in the 2017/18 season, and it appears Roberts fits the mould perfectly for Redknapp.

Roberts signed for Barnsley from Halifax Town in 2015, and has gone to make in excess of 80 appearances for the Reds. Manager Paul Heckingbottom will be keen to keep hold of Roberts though, after already seeing Mawson, Sam Winnall, and Conor Hourihane snapped up last season.

The Reds finished comfortably in mid-table last season following promotion from League One and will be looking to push for a top ten place this season.

Barnsley and Birmingham fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
