Birmingham City have a duo of attackers available again for this weekend's match against Sheffield United, manager Garry Monk has confirmed.

Che Adams and Sam Gallagher are both in contention for a place in the Birmingham starting XI as their relegation battle continues.

The Blues host Sheffield United this weekend, knowing that victory would significantly ease their relegation worries.

Birmingham sit one place above the relegation zone and Barnsley trail them by two points.

However, the Tykes have a game in hand on Monk's side and could go above them with a win.

Ahead of this vital Championship clash this weekend, Birmingham have Adams and Gallagher back.

Attacking midfielder Adams has had a mixed season, starting 14 games and coming off the bench a further thirteen times.

The 21-year-old, who was one of Birmingham's best players last season, was sent off in the win against Bolton but is now back in contention to face his former club Sheffield United on Saturday.

Gallagher is also back, having missed the last six games with a calf injury.

The 22-year-old, on loan from Southampton, has netted six league goals in 22 starts for the Blues and will compete for a starting spot with Lukas Jutkiewicz, who has three goals in his last four outings.

The Verdict

This is a major boost for the Blues because they now have options up front. Adams and Gallagher will both probably start on the bench but Monk has the option of introducing them if he needs some attacking impetus. With Adams' speed and Gallagher's physicality, they can both offer a different dimension for the Blues to consider.
