Birmingham City have today confirmed that Jefferson Montero has signed from Swansea City on loan for the rest of the season.

The move looked to be happening late on Deadline Day yesterday and it was hard to tell whether or not all the relevant paperwork had been done before the 5pm closure.

The good news is for Blues fans, it was done in time:

A bright winger with pace and tricky feet, Pep Clotet clearly feels that Montero could well help the Blues as they look to put together a good campaign in the Championship this year.

At times for Swansea at this level he has looked a very handy player indeed, but it's finding consistency and fitness that has sometimes held him back.

That, then, is his challenge at St. Andrew's with the Blues' attacking line looking very different to how it did at the start of the summer.

The Verdict

This could be a handy signing for the Blues.

Jefferson Montero is a good player, that is the baseline fact, and it's now up to him to show that on a regular basis.

It'll be hard for the Blues to move on from the exits of Jota, Che Adams and Isaac Vassell quickly but if Montero can help them do so he'll quickly prove a hit.
