Birmingham City have been languishing in the Championship for some years now, but prior to that they were a typical Premier League side.

Since then, the club have struggled to return – under Gary Rowett they looked like a play-off push could be on, but his sacking started a downturn in fortunes.

In the Second City derby, which Birmingham won, Villa conceded one of the most comical goals in Premier League history.

From a throw-in, the ball was thrown to Peter Enckelman in goal, who sliced a clearance-come-pass into his own goal to give Birmingham a comedic goal.

Christophe Dugarry’s imperious performance against Southampton in 2003 was voted as the top moment of Birmingham’s history in the Premier League.

The Frenchman put in a special performance, which was rounded and complete.

The Second City derby hasn’t been contested that much in the Premier League recently, but both teams have many bad and happy memories to recall and choose from.

One that will stick in the mind of Blues fans is the 3-0 victory in 2002 – Blues' Clinton Morrison netted in the first half before Geoff Horsfield scored late on to seal a famous win.
