It's safe to say that Scott Hogan has made a good impression on the majority of the Birmingham City supporters this season.

The forward arrived on loan from local rivals Aston Villa back in January, and has gone on to score seven goals in nine appearances for Pep Clotet's side.

However, the Blues have struggled for positive results at times this season, and are winless in their last five matches in the Championship, which will make for concerning reading.

Due to recent off-the-field events, all fixtures in the UK have been called to an abrupt halt, with no scheduled return date being put in place as of yet.

Speaking in an interview with Birmingham City's official website, Hogan spoke out on the break from competitive action, but is eager to finish this year's campaign, even if that means playing games behind closed doors.

"Obviously safety-wise you would have to look at behind closed doors which can’t be helped but I think you have got to finish it and you can draw a line under it and gives everyone a bit of breathing space once it’s done. It's only if it can be done safely, but I am all for finishing the season without a doubt."

Hogan went on to liken the prospect of playing matches behind closed doors to the situation he found himself in with Stoke City, whilst on loan with the Potters earlier this season, where he made a number of appearances for the club's Under-23s side.

"Before I came to Blues I spent three months at Stoke playing behind closed doors pretty much, I'm alright with it!

"It will feel like a development game but if you are playing football at the moment most payers will take it and I think most fans would take it as long as they can view it on the TV.

"It gives them something to look forward to, if they are playing games every other day it takes two or three hours out of your day.

"It will be strange but if that’s the way it pans out so be it. At the end of the day we are paid to do that if there are fans or not. It will be strange but whatever will be, will be."

The Verdict:

I have to agree with Hogan here.

Football is rightly taking a 'back seat' at this moment in time, and fixtures should only return to our lives when it is deemed safe enough to do so by the relevant authorities.

Hogan has really impressed me with Birmingham City on loan this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Blues made an effort to try and make his loan move a permanent one in the summer.

We've seen glimpses of the impressive form which saw him make a name for himself with Brentford earlier in his career, and I'd be surprised if he remained with Aston Villa.
