Birmingham City winger Viv Solomon-Otabor says that he is open to making his switch to League One Portsmouth permanent, report the Portsmouth News.

Kenny Jackett has reportedly been impressed with his January loan signing’s contribution leading to whispers that he could become a Pompey player in the summer.

“I would be open to it (a permanent move),” he said.

“‘I really enjoy it down here. Everyone is nice, the lads are good, I’m comfortable and it’s allowed me to play the way I have played.

“‘I’ve just got see what happens towards the end of the season.”

The 23-year-old just played eight times in the Championship, all from the bench, before being shipped out on loan in January.

Since arriving at Fratton Park he has racked up five appearances and netted his first goal for the club in Tuesday night’s 3-2 win against Walsall.

His contract with the Blues expires in the summer meaning he will be a free agent if no deal is agreed before then.

The verdict

I think Birmingham could be making a mistake here.

Moving him on is not necessarily a bad thing, but allowing him to do so for nothing is foolish from a club in a precarious financial position.

He will need to prove himself a bit more to persuade Pompey to bring him in too.
