The Capital One Cup clash, which will take place on Tuesday evening, is the first meeting between the two rivals since January 2011, where the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw.

However, Birmingham City will be hoping to come away victorious this time despite being classed as under-dogs for the cup tie. And young starlet Demarai Gray is excited for his first senior experience of the Second City derby.

Birmingham's young player of the season, admits that he was "buzzing" when he saw that Birmingham City had drawn Villa in the Capital One Cup, after they knocked out League One leaders Gillingham.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said:"Obviously I was buzzing when I saw the draw,"

"Drawing Villa is just crazy.

"Personally it's great for me and out of all the games this is definitely the one I want to play in. I'm raring to go.

"Hopefully I can start, but even if I'm on the bench the atmosphere is going to be great.

"I've told some of the boys that signed this year that I don’t think they quite get how big this game is."

Coming through the ranks at Birmingham since joining as a ten year old boy, Gray is no stranger to the importance of the game for the fans at St Andrews. And he understands that a trip across the city to Villa Park is a big deal for everyone involved at the Midlands club.

However, he has also admitted that the Blues have been focusing on their good form in the Sky Bet Championship rather than getting carried away with the big clash against their rivals. It is because of this good start to the season, that Gray believes they have a chance of taking the bragging rights back to St Andrews.

He added: "We're obviously going to be the underdogs as the Championship team. They're a good side but it's the cup and anything can happen.

"It's just Blues and Villa on the pitch so everyone is going to be up for it. We've had a good start and I know we've definitely got what it takes to win the game."

So, with the Second City derby match just around the corner, both sets of fans will be excited and nervous at the same time. But Demarai Gray in particular, is itching to be involved.
