Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray has been called up to the England under-21 squad for the first time in his career.
The winger will replace the injured Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond who was forced to withdraw from the squad.
A product of Birmingham’s academy, Gray has impressed England under-21 boss Gareth Southgate after some fine performances for the Midlands side – the 19-year-old has made 18 appearances for the Blues.
The youngster has attracted interest from the Premier League, and this is a great opportunity to cement his place in the England set up.
The winger joined up with the rest of the squad on Sunday at St George’s Park and will prepare for their vital European Championship Qualifiers against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Switzerland.
England will play in the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo on Thursday and will face the Swiss in Brighton on the following Monday.
Gray will join five other Championship players in the squad.
