Birmingham City have already taken the current transfer window by storm in the Sky Bet Championship.
Lee Bowyer has been busy in the market, with Jordan Graham, Ryan Woods and Chuks Aneke all arriving on free transfers from Gillingham, Stoke City and Charlton Athletic in recent weeks to bolster the St Andrew’s ranks.
All three players add an extra level of quality and experience to the current side and will be expected to make a lasting impact for the Midlands club as they aim to be competing at the top end of the table next term.
More arrivals certainly appear likely for the Blues, with Bowyer really starting to get his feet under the table after taking the job back in March of this year.
Quiz: What was the score the last time Birmingham City played each of these 25 teams?
Here, we round up all of the latest transfer rumours that have been swirling around Birmingham over the past few days.
Middlesbrough rivalled in race
The Blues are said to be rivalling Middlesbrough in the race to sign outgoing Nottingham Forest winger Sammy Ameobi this summer, as per a recent report by Football Insider.
Now aged 29, Ameobi still has a good few years left ahead of him before he hangs up his boots and it is said that Birmingham have now identified him as a top target as he nears the City Ground exit door.
With his current deal at Forest set to expire later in the week, the Blues could well secure yet another new recruit on a free transfer.
Ameobi was a regular for the Reds last term, scoring three times whilst assisting two goals for his teammates.
Blues remain keen on £5m ace
As stated by football journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter recently, the Blues remain keen on signing Josh Windass, but not for the £5 million asking price that the Owls have set.
The 27-year-old is a wanted man this summer, with Millwall having already seen two bids rejected for the attacker in more recent times.
He is a name who is said to be on Birmingham’s list but they could turn their attentions elsewhere if Wednesday do not adjust to their demands.
Their interest remains for now and it will be intriguing to see if a bid is placed over the next few weeks.
Striker linked with exit
Ipswich Town are said to be interested in signing Sam Cosgrove on loan from the Blues this summer, as per a recent report by The Sun on Sunday.
The striker only joined Birmingham in January but has so far failed to find the back of the net for his new side after only being handed two league starts by Bowyer.
It is said in the report that the Birmingham boss is open to letting the 24-year-old leave on a temporary basis amidst interest from the Tractor Boys in what would be an ambitious move.
Cosgrove currently has three years remaining on his contract with the Blues and is unlikely to leave on a permanent basis this summer.
