There is only one week to go until Birmingham City kick off their Championship campaign with a trip to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United.

It has been a busy summer for Blues as Lee Bowyer continues to strengthen his squad ahead of next season, with eight new signings arriving at St. Andrew's.

There is likely to be some more movement before the transfer window closes next month, though, and further additions may be needed if Blues are to enjoy a positive 2021/22 season.

Here, we take a look at the latest transfer news and gossip to emerge from Birmingham City over the last few days...

Zach Jeacock

Goalkeeper Zach Jeacock has joined League Two side Salford City on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old signed a new deal at St. Andrew's at the end of last season, keeping him at the club until 2024.

But after getting a slight taste of first-team football last term, the shot-stopper has now moved to Salford on loan.

Jeacock will look to compete with Tom King for the number one jersey, having featured for Blues on a couple of occasions in 2020/21.

The loan arrival of Matija Sarkic from Wolves, however, pushed him down the pecking order and subsequently led to his loan exit.

Ryan Stirk

Another youngster, Ryan Stirk, has headed on loan to League Two as well, with the midfielder joining Mansfield Town for the season.

The 20-year-old was a key player for Blues' Under-23s' as they won the Professional Development League national title last term.

Stirk, who played for Blues against Cardiff towards the end of last season, will now look to benefit from regular first-team football under Nigel Clough in League Two.

Liam Delap

Birmingham could be set to miss out on the signing of Manchester City's young forward Liam Delap, though.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Blues are among a host of Championship sides who have registered an interest in taking Delap on loan for the season.

The young striker scored 24 goals in only 20 Premier League 2 appearances last term, and a loan move looks set to be in the offing this season.

But Football League World have exclusively been told that Stoke City are increasingly confident of landing the son of Rory's signature this summer.
