Birmingham City to rival Brentford for 23-year-old midfielder

Birmingham City have joined Brentford in the race to sign Max Power from Wigan Athletic, according to local news source The Birmingham Mail.

Brentford have previously seen a bid of £850,000 for Max Power turned down by Wigan.

Power has featured in 24 matches for Wigan this season, contributing 5 assists and picking up plenty of admirers with energetic and creative displays in the middle of the park.

The central midfielder joined the Latics in summer 2015 after playing over 100 games for Tranmere Rovers.

He was a pivotal part of Wigan’s League One winning team last season and has continued to shine in the Wigan midfield this year in the Championship.

Warren Joyce’s Latics are struggling in the Championship at the moment as they are currently 6 points off safety.

Gianfranco Zola is said to be an admirer of Power’s style of play and could make a move for the young midfielder, whose contract expires in 2019.

Birmingham and Brentford fans – can you land Power? How much is he worth?

Wigan fans – are you confident that you can keep him? How important is Power to your survival hopes?
