Birmingham City have suffered a blow in their attempts to bring in a forward before the end of the window, with a move for Wolves’ Bright Enobakhare off after he failed to agree personal terms, according to the Atheltic reporter Tim Spiers.

Pep Clotet has been looking to add to his options in the attacking third before the window closes, with the Blues having already brought in Scott Hogan on loan from Aston Villa – and Birmingham had reportedly reached an agreement with Wolves over a move for Enobakhare.

Enobakhare had spent the first half of the season out on loan at Wigan Athletic, but the 21-year-old struggled to make any real impact during his time at the Championship club, and Wolves were willing to allow the forward to leave the club before the window closes.

Can you name the season in which these 14 Birmingham City images were taken?

However, it is now thought that the 21-year-old will not be making the switch across the Midlands to St Andrews, and with Alvaro Gimenez being linked with a potential departure, the Blues could be in need of finding an alternative quickly.

The verdict

This will be yet more frustration for Birmingham supporters and Clotet, with the Blues clearly crying out for some attacking reinforcements before the window shuts, but with Enobakhare’s move now seemingly not happening they might struggle to bring in a new forward.

The 21-year-old would have arrived at St Andrews with a real point to prove having been made surplus to requirements at Wolves, and also having struggled to impress during his loan spell with Wigan in the first half of the season, which could have made him a useful asset for the Blues.

Enobakhare would have been able to provide extra support to the likes of Lukas Jutkiewicz and Hogan, but Clotet could once again be left short of options in the attacking third if the window closes without the addition of another forward.

It will be interesting to see now whether the Blues allow Gimenez to leave the club, with the Blues not wanting to leave themselves light in the final third, having already allowed Odin Bailey to leave the club on loan to Forest Green Rovers.
