Birmingham City have stuck up an agreeement with Coventry to share St Andrews next season.

The news, reported by the Sun via a statement from Coventry's official website, has put to bed any worry that the Sky Blues had ahead of next season in relation to their expulsion from the competition due to issues with the Ricoh Arena.

Championship Birmingham have agreed to let Coventry play their home games at St Andrews if they cannot sort out their issues with the Ricoh, and it will be a massive relief of sorts for all involved with Coventry as they look to plan ahead for next season.

"This groundshare is in place to make sure the Club has somewhere to play in the scenario of a deal to play at the Ricoh Arena not being agreed." the statement said.

"We can confirm that talks with the aim to achieve a deal to play at the Ricoh Arena are continuing between Coventry City Football Club, its owners SISU and Wasps Holdings Limited."

Coventry also confirmed that the coming week's meeting, where a vote was due to be held surrounding their status in the EFL, has now been cancelled, leaving the club to focus on more important matters such as backing Mark Robins in the summer window and planning for next term.

The Sky Blues have been in trouble for a number of seasons now but came roaring back last season, narrowly missing out on the play-offs in League One under Robins.

The Verdict

What a relief this is for the Coventry City fans, who have been through enough in the last few seasons without being expelled from even competing.

Hopefully this gives the club some breathing room and they can sort out a deal to ensure their football stays in the city.
