Birmingham will be hoping for a better campaign in the coming season as the club look to put aside any more worries of a relegation battle and begin to climb the table under manager Garry Monk.

The Blues will be hoping Monk can bring success to the club following his spells with the likes of Middlesbrough and Leeds, and they will no doubt be hoping for Monk to go out this summer and add some real quality to the squad.

However, quality can come at a price, and we at FLW think Monk would be wise to look into the lower leagues for new players, such as Gillingham striker Tom Eaves, who bagged 17 goals last season in League One.

Eaves, who is 26, would no doubt relish the chance at a move into the Championship and a chance to prove himself, and he could well be a low risk signing for the Blues.

Good in the air and still a decent finisher, Eaves has been impressing for the Gills and became the main man last season as his goals spoke for themselves.

With Birmingham needing to add new players and goals always welcome in any squad, Eaves could well be a cheap addition to the ranks in a time when the fees being paid for Championship players are ever increasing.

Blues fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
