After securing the services of Harry Redknapp for at least another year, Birmingham City fans can go into next season full of optimism.

The 70-year-old won two out of three games to steer the Blues away from relegation to League One, after what was a dismal season spent under Gianfranco Zola for a large majority of it.

Some Blues fans will still be dumbfounded as to why the club let go of former boss Gary Rowett, however the appointment of Redknapp has restored belief and optimism around St. Andrews, as they look to galvanise a promotion push next year.

Recruitment is vitally important if the Midlands club are to achieve their goals next year, a blend of experience and quality along with Redknapp's knowledge and expertise will work wonders next year.

With that being said, here FLW writer George Harbey identifies TWO players that should walk straight through the door at Birmingham City when the transfer window opens on June 9th....

Chey Dunkley

The Blues were linked with the signature of the Oxford United defender in January, and there should be no reason as to why they should not go in for him once more.

The 25-year-old has made a total of 81 appearances for Oxford, and his overwhelming presence at the back would be influential for Birmingham, who conceded 64 goals in the league campaign last term.

Dunkley was subject to interest from many high profile clubs in the winter, however a sleeping giant like Birmingham can definitely lure the stalwart to St. Andrews' in the summer.

Jonny Hayes

The 29-year old has netted 23 times in 165 appearances for Scottish outfit Aberdeen from the wing, and has attracted the attention of the likes of Scottish champions Celtic as well as some Championship clubs.

Having made over 350 senior appearances in his career, the pacey Irishman possesses a wealth of experience that would be a major asset for Harry Redknapp and his Birmingham side next year, as they look to push for promotion...
