After beating Bristol City 1-0 away at Ashton Gate, Birmingham sealed their destiny by avoiding relegation, which now leaves them to prepare for another year in England's second tier.

If the Blues are to progress further up the table next campaign, major changes are going to be needed at St Andrew's, putting a lot of pressure onto Harry Redknapp's shoulders if he is to take the managerial role permanently.

And with the decision on Redknapp's future set to be confirmed next week, a permanent manager will be needed sooner rather than later at St Andrew's, in order to get their transfer business done early.

Utilising the summer transfer window well is vitally important for all clubs in the Championship, and it can help determine whether the side will have a positive or negative season.

With that in mind, whether Redknapp or another candidate is Birmingham's permanent manager next campaign, here are TWO signings Birmingham should look to seal in the first week of the summer window...

Krystian Bielik

Bielik has been on-loan at the Blues since January 2017, from Premier League powerhouse Arsenal, and although he hasn't been a regular in the first team, has impressed Blues' fans when on the pitch.

The Polish centre back has provided fantastic cover this term, and with current defender Paul Robinson not getting any younger, Bielik will certainly get more first-team football next campaign.

Not only that but the former Legia Warsaw man, can be used as a utility player, as shown for the Arsenal academy is a reliable defensive midfielder as well as centre-half.

If the Blues could retain his services maybe again on-loan, with the option of a permanent deal, the 19-year-old can grow and will certainly become a Birmingham star in the future.

Jon Toral

Another player on the ranks at Arsenal, Toral has previously enjoyed a successful spell at the St Andrew's back in 2015, but has currently been on-loan at Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Toral joined Rangers in January 2017, and hasn't shined as bright as his time in the Midlands, however he has shown glimpses of his capabilities in his only nine appearances.

Blues fans will definitely be eager to bring back Toral, as in his season-long loan in 2015, he excelled by scoring eight goals in 36 appearances from midfield, in a Blues side which reaches tenth that campaign.

The 22-year-old would surely bring a different dimension to Birmingham's midfield, and help create more chances for strikers such as Lukas Jutkiewicz , a loan-deal would probably be beneficial for both parties, however if the Blues could sign Toral on a permanent it would be a fantastic investment for the future of the club.
