Harry Redknapp will surely be active during the summer transfer window, as he looks to transform his Birmingham City side from relegation contenders into promotion candidates in the coming months.

It was a narrow escape from relegation for the Blues during the 2016/17 campaign, with Redknapp’s three fixtures in-charge resulting in two victories and safety for Birmingham, who were flirting with Sky Bet Championship’s relegation zone.

Another striker will surely be high on the agenda this summer, as the club’s top scorer, Lukas Jutkiewicz, found the net on just 12 occasions across all competitions last season.

Birmingham may look into League One to recruit a striker, and should look no further than James Vaughan, who only left St Andrew’s at the beginning of last season.

Gary Rowett, who was Birmingham’s manager at the time, opted to release Vaughan just months after signing him permanently, and from there the 28-year old enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Bury.

Vaughan scored 24 goals in League One last season, which was only bettered by Billy Sharp at Sheffield United, and he ultimately helped Bury avoid relegation, as they finished just one-point outside the bottom-four.

Lee Clark has confirmed that Bury have already received offers for Vaughan, but insisted the 28-year old would only be leaving if the price was right.

The striker has shown since his release from Birmingham, just how prolific he can be in-front of goal and could be in-demand this summer.

Redknapp and Birmingham are in dire need of reinforcements in the coming months, and with Vaughan having just one-year remaining on his deal with Bury, the Blues should look to bring the 28-year old back to St Andrew’s ahead of a push for promotion.
