Birmingham City set to rival Fulham for Premier League striker

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett could be about to make a bid for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, according to reports on Vital Football.

Birmingham set to move for Gayle?

Birmingham set to move for Gayle?

It is thought that the West Midlands side are keen to land the out-of-favour striker on a season-long loan deal.

Any move by Birmingham would see them rival Fulham for the services of the striker after the Whites apparently made a bid over the weekend for Gayle.

The 25-year-old is a prolific goalscorer at Football League level and his form for Peterborough earned him a £4.5 million move to Palace just two years ago.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park he has struggled for a consistent run of games and boss Alan Pardew is said to be keen to let the striker go out on loan.

Rowett is keen to strengthen his attacking options and a move for Gayle could be just the tonic for the Blues.

Gayle would be a fantastic signing for any Sky Bet Championship club, and he would undoubtedly add an element of pace and potency to any side he potentially joined.

Birmingham fans… Would you welcome Gayle with open arms? Would he be a good partner for Clayton Donaldson? Are you in good spirits ahead of the new season? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
