Gary Rowett is set to bring in his first summer target with the signing of Welsh defender Christian Ribeiro, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The 25-year old has left former club Exeter City after his contract ran out and is now set to want to play in a higher league, with Birmingham ready to give him that option.
The two capped Welsh International can play full back or centre back and interest is said to be high in the defender with former club Bristol City and Swindon Town both offering him a chance to improve on the football he plays.
Ribeiro who’s father is Portuguese, was born in Wales and came through the youth ranks at Bristol City. He then joined clubs on loan including Scunthorpe, Stockport and Carlisle before joint Scunthorpe on a permanent basis.
As Rowett looks to improve on his side that finished mid-table last season, the former Burton manager is said to be looking for various players to fill the weak positions in attack, midfield and defence.
The club are also looking into securing Wes Foderingham’s signature as a major overhaul of the squad happens this summer.
Birmingham fans, would you like to see Ribeiro at your club? Or is his signature not ambitious enough? Have your say at FLW below!
