Gary Rowett could be set with a Burton Albion reunion as Birmingham City look set to bring in former player Jacques Maghoma, according to FLW sources.
Maghoma is set to leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer, with his contract set to expire in the coming weeks, with both Maghoma and Wednesday now set to look to other opportunities.
Rowett, who has been praised by fans and club representatives for Birmingham’s new lease of life in the Championship, and FLW understands he is wanting a reunion with his former player.
Maghoma was a star in Gary Rowett’s first full season in charge of Burton, scoring 18 goals in 45 appearances for the club before leaving for Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2013.
The Congolese winger has since had a less than successful career with the Yorkshire outfit, losing his goal scoring form and suffering a lack of game time this season.
The former Tottenham youth product has featured less than 10 times this past season and is not set to join up with his former boss in hope of resurrecting his career.
Known for his pace and skill, the versatile midfielder can play a varied selection of positions including both wings, central midfield and can even fill in as a second striker, all positions that Birmingham will be looking to strengthen this summer.
Birmingham fans, would you like to see Maghoma feature for the Brum under Rowett? Have your say at FLW.
