Birmingham City are set to make a decision on whether to sign Josh McEachran on a permanent deal by the end of next week according to Birmingham Live.

The midfielder has been training with the Blues so far this season, and he featured in their game against Bristol City's under 23's team earlier this month.

He was substituted after 68 minutes, and will be pleased to have got minutes under his belt for the Blues on the day.

McEachran has been without a club since he left Brentford in the summer, and will be keen to find himself a new team for the 2019/20 campaign.

It remains to be seen as to whether Pep Clotet is keen to land his signature, but Birmingham will be hoping that they can make the right call in the near future.

The midfielder has previously been on the books at Chelsea, but he failed to make a notable impact at Stamford Bridge and was sent out on a loan on a number of occasions.

But McEachran struggled with injuries in his time with Brentford, and only made 24 league appearances for the Bees last season, as they finished 11th in the Championship.

With a deadline in place for a decision to be made over his future, McEachran will be keen to do all he can to convince Birmingham to offer him a contract in this year's campaign.

The Verdict:

I think he has a point to prove at this level.

McEachran didn't have the best of spells with Brentford last season, and it didn't come as a surprise to see him moving on in the summer of 2019.

But Birmingham need additional depth in their midfield options, and he'd certainly provide them with a bit of creativity in that area of the team.

If he can stay injury-free, then it could prove to be an excellent signing by the Blues.
