Birmingham City manager Garry Monk has revealed that winger Jota is fully fit and in contention to start against Bristol City this weekend.
The Spaniard has racked up one goal and five assists this season but has missed the Blues’ last three matches, including the 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa in the Second City derby.
“He has been training this week,” Monk told the club’s official Twitter account.
“He has been out there and he will be fit and ready and available for selection this Saturday.
“He’s had a really good week in training and he’ll be ready to go.”
Jota made the move to Birmingham from Brentford last summer, going on to score six goals and assist seven more in 52 matches.
Birmingham currently sit in ninth place on 30 points, just four outside the top six and six ahead of Saturday’s opponents, so the fans will be confident of another win.
St. Andrew’s has become a fortress for the Blues this season and are yet to lose on home soil, winning four and drawing six of their ten matches at the ground.
This is a huge boost for Garry Monk.
As well as they have played in the last two matches, they have often lacked that little spark of magic that Jota so frequently provides to split open an opposition defence.
It will be interesting to see whether Monk feels he is needed straight back in the starting XI or if he will persist with Connor Mahoney and Jacques Maghoma on the wings.
