Birmingham City's owners insist that promotion to the Premier League is still the aim for the club and they have vowed to back Pep Clotet in the transfer window.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a decent start to life in charge of Blues, with the side currently 13th in the Championship and six points away from the play-offs.

Despite that, fans have been encouraged by the style of play the new boss is trying to implement and they can see signs that things may improve in the future.

And, Birmingham Live reveal how the hierarchy have told fans that they are pleased with the direction the club are heading and that they will continue to invest moving forward.

"Our main objective and principal remains: to get this Club back to the Premier League. We have started on a new journey with a new philosophy, a new way of playing and new strategies.

"We are all aware of the areas of the team and squad where we need to strengthen. Our focus is very much on the winter transfer window and, without revealing any targets, we have things in place."

Blues are back in action against Huddersfield after the international break.

The verdict

This is a good message from the board and one that will please Blues fans as it seems as though they finally have a clear plan for the team moving forward.

Of course, the proof will come in the January window and the summer that follows but there are at least more reasons to be positive for the support now.

Clearly, a lot of work still needs to be done on the squad but Blues made some shrewd signings this summer and most would agree they have changed for the better in the past few months.
