Birmingham City's David Stockdale insists there's no issues between him and Garry Monk despite the manager wanting to move him on.

Stockdale moved to St. Andrew's last season from Brighton in a move that surprised many given he had helped Albion to promotion to the Premier League.

However, things haven't really gone to plan since joining Blues. The side battled relegation and had three managers last season.

And, despite remaining number one throughout, including under Monk for the final months of the campaign, the former Leeds boss told Stockdale that he wasn't in his plans going forward.

That generated a lot of speculation among fans, with some suggesting there had been a fall out behind the scenes.

Yet, Stockdale responded to fans who were commenting on that on twitter, revealing that there are no personal problems and it's simply a case of the manager wanting someone else going forward.

Although, the latest news coming out of Birmingham is that they are under a transfer embargo so that could alter Monk's plans in the future and potentially Stockdale's future.

The Verdict

This is good from Stockdale as it should put the rumours to bed that he and Monk have had a falling out or that something had gone on.

As he says, in football different people have different thoughts and ultimately it's Monk's call at Birmingham and he isn't keen on the former Brighton man.

Whether that situation changes now remains to be seen but if not, Stockdale will have to look elsewhere for regular football.
