Birmingham City's Odin Bailey is edging closer to sealing a season-long loan move to Scottish Premiership club Livingston, as reported by the Daily Record.

The report states that Livingston boss, David Martindale, confirmed that the 21-year-old would spend the season with The Lions following the club's last-gasp defeat against Aberdeen yesterday.

Bailey, who is a graduate of the Birmingham City academy, made his first-team debut in August 2019, appearing as a second-half substitute during the club's 3-0 defeat to Portsmouth.

Before his debut, Bailey scored twice in 12 games during a loan spell in the National League South with Gloucester City.

Bailey proceeded to spend some time with Forest Green in the 2019/20 campaign, but he made just five appearances before the season came to a halt.

The winger returned to The New Lawn last season, featuring 34 times and scoring four goals. Bailey added four assists last season, proving to be a competent creator of goals also.

The verdict

This will be an excellent opportunity for Bailey to prove himself for inclusion next season. He is seemingly close to becoming a part of Lee Bowyer's side at Birmingham, but a successful loan period in the top division of Scottish football would certainly bolster his chances next year.

Bailey is still an exciting prospect for The Blues, and he will have the chance to show his quality against some very competitive sides in the Scottish Premiership.

This is an important next step for the young winger and a real opportunity to kick on his career. Bailey has the potential to thrive at Livingston, should the move go ahead.
