It's safe to say that Jude Bellingham has made quite the impression with Birmingham City this season in the Championship.

The 16-year-old has made 35 appearances in an impressive breakthrough season with the Blues, and has chipped in with four goals and three assists in all competitions this term.

It appears as though his strong performances haven't gone unnoticed though, with Bild recently claiming that Borussia Dortmund are edging closer to signing Bellingham ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bellingham will have to wait to conclude this year's campaign though, with recent off-the-field events calling a half to fixtures across the globe.

The Blues are currently sat 16th in the second tier standings, and will be hoping they can put together a positive run of results at the earliest of opportunities when football does return.

Speaking in a Q&A session with the club's supporters (quotes sourced from Birmingham Live), Birmingham City defender Jake Clarke-Salter revealed that Bellingham is the best players in training for the Blues.

"For me, the best player in training is Jude Bellingham. For someone so young, what he does in training sometimes is unbelievable."

There is no scheduled return date in place for a return for football in the UK, as the relevant authorities continue to monitor the off-the-field situation.

The Verdict:

I'm not surprised to hear this.

Bellingham has been hugely impressive for Birmingham this season, and I would be stunned if he was still a Blues player by the start of next season.

He's been a class apart for Pep Clotet's side this term, and he's clearly a player that has the potential to be playing at a high level in the future.

Birmingham will be hoping that they can find an adequate replacement for Bellingham in the summer if he is to leave the club.
