Birmingham City not in the hunt for international striker despite reports

Birmingham City are not interested in Torino striker Josef Martinez, according to The Birmingham Mail.

Recent reports have suggested that Gianfranco Zola was keen to swoop for the Italian based striker but The Birmingham Mail believes that this information is wide of the mark.

Josef Martinez has been playing for Torino since 2014 and has played over 50 times for the Serie A outfit after joining from Swiss side Young Boys.

He has also played for Caracas in his homeland and FC Thun on loan in his career.

The 23-year-old has been made available for transfer after Torino signed former Bournemouth man Juan Manuel Iturbe.

However, he will not be making the switch to Championship side Birmingham City.

The Venezuela international is a diminutive striker renowned for his pace.

Birmingham are not done in the transfer window, though, after Zola added Craig Gardner and Lukas Jutkiewicz to his squad already in January.

Birmingham fans – are you disappointed not to be going for Martinez? Who can you go for instead? Let us know in the comments below…
