Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett signs new deal at the club

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has signed a new deal, the club’s official Twitter has confirmed.

There is no word from Birmingham on the actual length of contract signed from Rowett, but it will put to bed any worries fans had regarding the management set up at the club.

Rowett took over the Blues in October 2014 and guided them to safety that season as they finished a very respectable tenth.

He has overseen proceedings this season and guided them to within two points of the play off places in eighth position.

Rowett, former City player and manager at Burton Albion, will be delighted to have put speculation surrounding his future to bed as he looks to push Birmingham closer to the promotion places.

His backroom staff, Kevin Summerfield, Mark Sale, and goalkeeping coach Kevin Poole have also penned new deals.

Birmingham recently lost star man Demarai Gray to Leicester City but have acted quickly to bring in Will Buckley from Sunderland.

Blues fans, tell us what you think to this news. Is Rowett the man to guide you back to the Premier League? Who else would you like to see brought in to replace Gray? Let us know your thoughts using the comments box below!
