Birmingham City goalkeeper Connal Trueman is seemingly set for a season-long loan move to League One outfit AFC Wimbledon this summer, with journalist Pete O'Rourke stating on Twitter that a move for the 24-year-old is imminent.

Trueman has largely found himself out of favour at St. Andrew's this term, with the club's previous manager Pep Clotet having usually stuck with veteran shot stopper Lee Camp as his regular number one during his tenure at the Midlands outfit.

A temporary move for the Blues academy graduate now seems to be the next best course of action, with Wimbledon sure to provide the keeper with a great platform to rediscover his confidence and form after what has been a frustrating season for the one time Solihull Moors loanee.

The Birmingham born shot stopper previously made his professional debut for the club back in 2014 and has gone onto to make just 12 first team appearances for the Championship outfit so far.

Quiz: Have each of these 15 Birmingham City players scored a league goal this season?

Trueman's current contract with the club expires in the summer of 2022.

The Verdict

This is certainly a move which would be of great benefit to all parties involved in the deal, with Trueman in need of much sought after regular game time in order to continue his somewhat slowed development of late.

AFC Wimbledon have a proven record for developing young goalkeepers at their club, with the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and George Long having gone onto to bigger and better things after spending temporary spells with the Dons in recent seasons.

Trueman will no doubt be keen to get started at his new club as soon as possible as he seeks to make a lasting impression on Birmingham City's next permanent manager.
