Birmingham City will hope to get back to winning ways when they host a struggling Middlesbrough side tonight.

A 1-0 loss at Wigan made it three consecutive defeats for Pep Clotet's side, so the pressure is starting to build on Blues.

Despite that, striker Alvaro Gimenez appears to be eager to put things right against the Teesside outfit after sending out a passionate message to the fans on Instagram this afternoon.

"TOGETHER for the victory 💙💪🏻 Looking forward to play in our St Andrew’s tonight."

The former Almeria man has endured a tough start to life in England, scoring just once in eight games since making the move and he is currently on a run of six without a strike.

After impressing against Preston from the bench last week, Gimenez was handed starts against Derby and the Latics but he failed to make much of an impact last time out in what was a pretty toothless display from Clotet's men.

So, it will be interesting to see whether he is handed a start against Boro later on.

The verdict

Things haven't really worked for the striker this season but it's not through a lack of effort as he works hard for the team when he is on the pitch.

In truth, most players would struggle up top for this Blues side who aren't creating enough chances for those in the final third right now.

So, Clotet will surely have to think about tweaking the approach tonight after three defeats in a row but Gimenez will still be hoping to feature.
