Scott Hogan revealed his delight after enjoying a dream debut for Birmingham City against Nottingham Forest yesterday.

The striker completed a move to Blues just before the end of the window from bitter rivals Aston Villa and he was thrown straight into the XI for the fixture at St. Andrew's.

And, it was a decision that paid off, with Hogan scoring the crucial equaliser against the Reds.

Taking to Twitter after the game, the Ireland international sent a message to his new supporters and is clearly relieved to be back playing after a tough few months at Stoke City.

"Means the world to me to be back out playing football again."

Hogan's partnership with Lukas Jutkiewicz caused problems for Forest as Pep Clotet's team extended their unbeaten run to four games.

The result ensured Blues are eight points away from the relegation zone and Hogan will already be looking ahead to the next Championship fixture at Bristol City on Friday.

Birmingham do play Coventry in an FA Cup replay this week but the January addition is not eligible to play.

The verdict

This was a great moment for Hogan personally and he will have been delighted to make such a big contribution on his debut.

Given his struggles at Stoke, and the fact he has come from Villa, it's fair to say the signing of the 27-year-old didn't really excite supporters, so it was imperative Hogan started well.

He's done exactly that and the focus will be on building on that moving forward.
