Birmingham City's Kristian Pedersen insists that Blues are confident that they can beat high-flying West Brom at St. Andrew's this weekend.

A 2-0 reverse at home to QPR last night means that Pep Clotet's side have won just one of their previous seven games.

That is in stark contrast to Albion, who will head into Saturday's clash unbeaten since the start of October and they have an 11-point lead over third-placed Fulham in the race for automatic promotion.

However, Pedersen told Blues TV that he is relishing the challenge that this local derby provides and is adamant that Blues can pick up three points.

"I think personally we can beat the best teams in the league, we have shown that with Leeds, it’s about finding that little spark again because we can play football and hurt opponents.

"The lads can’t wait to play in a game against West Brom it’s going to be a massive game, we have to show a reaction, we have to show we wear this badge with pride."

A win would lift Blues to within three points of the top six.

Do you know where these 15 ex-Birmingham City players are playing now?

The verdict

This is exactly the sort of attitude that Birmingham need to have this weekend and Pedersen is clearly fired up.

The side didn't perform to the levels they know they are capable of in the week and if they replicate that on Saturday there's no doubt that they will lose again.

So, it will be interesting to see what sort of response Clotet gets but the group need to show no fear as this league has shown time and time again over the years that anyone can beat anyone.
