Birmingham City looking to replace Demarai Gray with Premier League winger

Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City are looking at Sunderland winger Will Buckley, who has failed to make an impression at the Stadium of Light, according to the Birmingham Mail (via the Sun).

Buckley, 26, has been told he can leave Sunderland after just 18 months at the club

In his first Premier League season, Buckley made 24 appearances, but has yet to make a single appearance this time around, and has clearly fallen out of favor with current Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce.

The top-flight club sent him on loan to Leeds earlier this season, but he only made one start there before being sent back to Wearside.

However, Birmingham manager Gary Rowett is looking to enhance his attacking options upon the departure of Demarai Gray to Leicester City, and Buckley would fit the mould quite nicely.

If the 26-year-old midfielder could rekindle the sort of form he showcased at Brighton and Hove Albion, he could be an incredibly shrewd signing for Gary Rowett and his team.

The Blues currently sit in eighth place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated 39 points from 25 league games this season.

The club have won four out of their last ten league games, and Rowett will be hoping to make it three consecutive wins in their next league fixture.
